Mary & Kieran engaged

I was just putting together Mary & Kieran’s wedding post when I realised I hadn’t posted their engagement session so I put the brakes on and backtracked to September of last year. When we spoke about a portrait session Mary was full of ideas, being the youngest ever lady captain of her local golf club she had plenty of pull getting us onto the course one evening late last summer so we had the place to ourselves. The weather was perfect, the surroundings were picturesque and despite the fact she was dosed with a cold Mary was right at home on the golf course, I’m not sure the same could have been said about Kieran ( lets just say I don’t think he’s really a golf man) but bless him he jumped right in and was game ball for anything, just my type of couple! Here’s a few for you to enjoy

Paula & Mark's engagement shoot, Roche Castle

It seemed as if the odds were against us last weekend as I headed to Greenore with Paula & Mark for their engagement shoot. The skies were heavy with rain clouds, the start of the fishing season meant the shore was peppered with anglers and the gates to the port were locked. We did consider climbing the wall but as it was about 6ft high  Paula was wearing a gorgeous red dress and high-heels that idea was quickly abandoned!

Armed with brollies and a positive attitude we spent some time on the beach before changing tactics and heading for somewhere closer to Mark’s home ground. After an acrobatic change of clothing mid-drive we climbed gates, hiked hills and made our way to the magical setting of Roche Castle. I can’t describe how gorgeous this place is -definitely tourist brochure material. The shelter of the ruins was a welcome relief after being battered by the gales on the shore, (did I mention it was windy as well?), so for a while we managed to see Paula’s face underneath her hair!

Windswept and interesting best describes the day and the couple and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in October – if they smile half as much as they did at the weekend my job will be very easy!
