Vicki & Gavins Cabra Castle Wedding

Back when the days were long and sunny I had the absolute pleasure of working with Vicki & Gavin on their wedding day. When Vicki was giving me directions to her parents house she described it as the house with the front door wide open so once I got to the street it was easy to find. In those few words she managed to describe not only her family home but also the whole wedding ethos, as during the entire day everyone from the makeup artist at the start of the day to the banqueting staff at the castle at the end of the night were welcomed and made to feel part of the family. With six girls in the house (and if you include Vicki’s 10 week old niece, seven girls) you’d expect a bit of chaos but an early night the night before meant everyone was well rested and rearing to go.

Caroline in the Flowerstudio had put together a beautiful brooch bouquet which had Vicki’s grannys brooch as her something old and her Edel Tuite dress made for a stunning something new so while she was enjoying being pampered and preened the boys were enjoying breakfast at a local cafe and a pint of the black stuff before heading over to St Patricks Cathedral for the ceremony with Fr Paddy, otherwise known as iPad Paddy!

Family is obviously hugely important to both of them and they celebrated their day with all their nearest and dearest, including several bumps and babies, by this stage I think most of the bumps have made their grand arrival so already the family photos need updating! Thank you both for letting me share your precious day with you, it was a joy to shoot and lots of fun!

Grainne & Damien's Cabra Castle Wedding

I’d always heard the saying that one wedding leads to another but Grainne & Damien are the first couple I’ve ever worked with who actually met at a wedding, mind you it did take a while to get around to having their own but it was worth it in the end!

Grainne by nature is a very organised person so it was a given that the day would run smoothly and with an (almost) 1 year old to get ready it meant there was no time to even think about panicing or getting stressed. The atmosphere in the McCourt house was so relaxed, Grandad was giving Adam photography lessons and there was even a laptop being passed from room to room so Grainne’s Aunt in Australia could watch the goings on via Skype.

Their very handsome son Adam was quiet as a mouse throughout the ceremony – I think he was mesmerized by the gospel choir and was considerate enough to nap, wake and smile on cue- who could ask for more?

Despite the weather they both beamed throughout the day and were still laughing as they dodged the puddles under a brollly with just enough time for a quick hello to Oscar, Cabra’s famous welcoming party. I hope you both enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed working with you both, congratulations!

Jacinta & Gavin's Cabra Castle Wedding

Jacinta & Gavin celebrated their wedding on a wet and windy day surrounded by friends and family which included 2 week old scrumdiddlyumptuous twin nieces. They ducked under brollies, dashed past Oscar the dog and brought the sunshine all by themselves to Cabra Castle.

It was a special day for lots of reasons, Jacinta’s Mum & Dad were celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary and Gavin’s Mum was celebrating a special birthday so what better day to pick for a wedding. Jacinta worked wonders customising shoes (who knew the many uses for a highlighter pen!), sourcing personalised cake toppers ( guess who’s the Take That fan) and generally ensuring everything was just perfect. Their gorgeous flowergirl Ellie did a wonderful job as did Damien the best man who was married recently himself with Gavin as his bestman so as he said himself there was a lot to live up to.

Often it takes a while to get to know people but Jacinta & Gavin are different, it’s so obvious that they’re in sync with each other (check out the high five following their vows), but you’d kind of expect that after 13 years -slow mover medal for Mr Whearty!  Gavin says he knew when he saw Jacinta in the domestic cleaning products aisle that she was the one for him, well you’ve both come a long way from summer jobs stacking shelves and hopefully there’s a longer path to travel together, just repeat your mantra, every little helps!
