No two weddings are the same anyway but Mike & Trish made their day one to remember with personal touches all along the way. Mike designed the invitations and thank you cards, Trish handmade all the place settings and gift bags, Trish’s uncle Fr Jim celebrated the ceremony, a very talented friend made the cake…..they literally took part in every detail of the wedding and what’s more they actually enjoyed it!
Trish’s Dad spent the morning in the kitchen complete with chef’s hat making sure everyone was fed and set up for the day while Trish and the girls sang around the house despite the grey clouds and the rain starting to fall outside. The boys braved the drops of rain at the chapel and despite all my hopes for a good gust of wind the kilts stayed in place, not even a flutter! By the time the girls arrived it was brollies and towels to the rescue and it continued to team down during the ceremony and for most of the drive to the Nuremore Hotel when just on cue like magic the clouds lifted and the sun appeared.
My sense of humour may seem warped to some but I definitely met my match in this pair, they had me in stitches throughout the day – I thought I was the one supposed to be helping them relax! They were a joy to work with I could clearly see they bring out the best in each other. Apparently a fantastic honeymoon in Italy complete with Tuscan cookery course isn’t enough for them though and now at Christmas they’re heading to Mike’s hometown in Australia for another family wedding, go the O’Neill globetrotters!
